What do you love most about working in higher education and why?
I love working in higher education because I’ve experienced its impact firsthand. As a first-generation college student, I had a mentor who helped guide my path, and that shaped my commitment to making higher ed accessible and meaningful for others. Early in my career, that meant working directly on campus to support students. Now, I enjoy helping multiple institutions and leaders create those same transformative experiences — broadening my impact and ensuring more students get the opportunities that changed my life.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Don't be proud of how busy you are. No one will ever admire you for making them feel like you don't have time for them.
When you aren’t busy being a Sparkler, what is something that you like to do?
When I step away from screens, I love working with my hands — building dioramas and models, tackling woodworking projects, or getting outside for some good old-fashioned yard work. Creating something tangible is always satisfying, but the best part is sharing it with my wife and kids, whether we're painting tiny details, planting trees, or just making a mess in the workshop.
