Jo Brown
Senior Copywriter
AKA “Bold Brown“
Jo has been an integral part of the Spark451 team for multiple cycles. She joined the team several years ago, after spending more than a decade as a digital journalist. She’s a talented marketing copywriter with a passion for storytelling, adept at crafting compelling narratives that capture the unique aspects of each institutional partner, while also incorporating action-oriented language that delivers measurable results.
She built a foundation for research and writing at Bluefield University while earning her Bachelor of Arts in English, and later sharpened her skills at Arizona State University, where she obtained a master’s in communication.
When she’s not crafting purposeful copy, Jo enjoys experiencing different cultures, food, and travel destinations with her family. Her love for global experiences was sparked by the opportunity to spend a year in Luxembourg following college.
What do you love most about working in higher education and why?
Connecting potential students to a school or program that helps them to better their education and career is extremely rewarding!
How did you choose your profession/why?
I love telling stories! I've found that everyone has a story to share, and I have an opportunity to help them develop the words to say exactly what they mean.
Where is the place you want to visit most in the world and why?
I want to visit Italy to take in the architecture, food, and beautiful cobblestone streets!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given and why?
Never compromise who you are. It's better to be disliked for being your authentic self than to be accepted for being someone you're not.
