Tackle Kids Cancer

A New Face in the Fight Against Cancer

Redesigning the web presence for the Tackle Kids Cancer initiative.

Tackling a Modern User Interface

Tackle Kids Cancer is a fundraising and awareness initiative by the Children’s Cancer Institute at Hackensack University Medical Center. In early 2016, HackensackUMC worked with Spark451 and Be* Marketing to redesign the initiative’s website. The project’s goals would included modernizing the user interface (UI), increasing audience reach, and driving donations.

Unifying the Brand

Going into the redesign process, Spark451 and Be* Marketing understood that HackensackUMC’s name recognition would be a foundational asset. However, the brand needed unification in order to best leverage that strength. Strategic use of the hospital’s logo and color scheme created strong ties from the new site to HackensackUMC’s established brand presence.

Tackle Kids Cancer can now count an impactful web presence among its weapons in the fight for the cure.

A Story Told in Images

The updated UI focuses on striking images with clean, spare menu elements. Each full-frame photo is a visual story, inviting the user to dive into the details with a click. Facebook and Twitter updates are seamlessly incorporated into the story flow, allowing for a dynamic, “live” feel. And all content guides the user to a bold call-to-action: Donate now.

Touchdown

The new infrastructure also allows for easy future updates; stories can be added as new content becomes available. These updates also help spread awareness of events and key partnerships, including those with Eli Manning and the New York Giants, among others. Tackle Kids Cancer can now count an impactful web presence among its weapons in the fight for the cure.
